Automobile software: Secure cross-linking of software in the vehicle and to external points

The increasing cross-linking of electronics components and software in vehicles is, to a large extent, driven by the following market developments:

  • Consumer electronics (CE) are developing fast and are wide-ranging. Today’s customers view seamless integration of CE in the driver’s area and the vehicle electrical system as a given.
  • Premium manufacturers use innovative comfort functions and assistance systems as a differentiating factor. In addition to multi-sensor integration this also means linking the vehicle to its surroundings (online). Prior innovations become “commodities”.
  • New vehicle architectures and standards make new platform strategies possible, which in turn require an integrated variant management system and construction kits.

Fuel prices and legal regulations are forcing the pace of intelligent energy saving concepts.

For manufacturers this means having to take an ever increasing number of different aspects of automobile software into consideration and coordinate them with each other:

  • Customer demands and functions
  • Specifications and tests
  • Variants and function-oriented development
  • Software and programming data
  • Vehicle electrical system architecture and outputs
  • Diagnosis data and functions
  • Security and service information

These aspects have to be centrally managed in parallel processes. With our many years of know-how we can help you to achieve universal, integrated process designs.

We focus on integrated diagnosis, allowing us to also support you in the development of a central platform for all diagnosis data. Because fast, focused recognition and correction of defects is crucial to customer satisfaction in the after-sales segment.

Development of the diagnosis begins with the initial ideas for a software function and includes the entire process landscape, from development to production, sales and service. Diagnosis is thus one of the parameters for quality management, since ever more complex defect scenarios have to be interpreted.

Following the development of a comprehensive data pool for service management the challenge is focused evaluation of the data and use of the findings to steer operative processes. Based on our many years of experience in quality management we can help you to take the right steps.
